Dameware NT utilities blocked by firewall ?
Hi there,
When I want to remotely install Dameware NT utilities (version 7.5.9.1) on a PC running Windows7 or server running Windows2008 and the windows firewall,is active, it just won't work.
I don't even 'see' the machine in the left hand pane of the interafe.
Note : I can't ping the machine either.
As soon as I switch of Windows' firewall everything works fine (ping=OK, install=OK) , but this is not the initial setting of the firewall.
Same goes when Dameware is already installed but Windows firewall was activated afterwards for some reason : no Dameware, no ping.
What rules or ports do I need to create or open to be able to install Dameware without switching off the firewall ?
Thx.
Bart
DameWare 6 Alt-Tab not sent to remote machine even when Windows Hot Keys enabled
Title says it all. I'm using DameWare MRC 6 (due to legacy issues in the organization). Most of the time the Alt-Tab keystroke is handled by the remote machines, which is what I want. Every so often, "something happens" that I have been unable to identify, that causes Alt-Tab to be handled by the local machine, even when the DameWare MRC client has focus and "Windows Hot Keys" are enabled. I vaguely recall conquering this by fiddling with some setting in some dialog somewhere, back in the mists of the past, but I can never find it when I need it, such as right this minute. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Chris
DameWare Mini Remote Control Error setsockopt (IP_DROP_MEMBERSHIP)
I have a user laptop with a strange issue. Noticed in Event Viewer, that one particular error pops up very frequently. This error occurs roughly every 3 minutes.

This is on a newly imagined laptop.
Any insight on what could be causing this or how I can prevent this from happening?
Auto open in fullscreen (NOT JUST MAXIMIZED)
Does anyone know how to create a shortcut to open to a host into fullscreen?
i.e "C:\Program Files\DameWare Development\DameWare Mini Remote Control 7.5\DWRCC.exe" -c: -md: -x: -m:xxxxxxx (WHAT ELSE)
Im making a computer that auto boots, and logs into multiple virtual machines and displays them on seperate monitors. I've got everything except for figuring out how to make dameware open fullscreen. I can't find any options or anything. The closest I can get is having the screen maximized
Dameware MRC with Windows 10
Has anyone found a work around for not being able to send the ctrl+alt+del command to a Windows 10 machine? I'm running version 12.0.3.4010.
Get Smart Card Authentication failed in MiniRemote
I have Dameware 7.5.6.1 32 bit running on 64bit Windows 7 and the remote clients are all 64bit Windows 7 machines.
It seems when I login to some of our remote computers I get an Smart Card Authentication failed error:
"System error: -2146435069, Remote Message: System Error: -2146435069. System message: the supplied handle was invalid."
The corresponding Windows Application logs show: "System error 10014, event id 110."
It seems to happen when I try to use the miniremote to remote into some computers, not all remote clients. It seems to happen after a sudden disconnect or reboot of the remote machine. It doesn't matter where I do it, so it not computer/profile specific. And I can get co-workers to login to the same remote system w/o issue, so it seems to be my issue.
I can use dameware NT utilities to access all the tools for the respective computer but a soon as I try to use MiniRemote and try to login I get the error. I can use other remote desktop apps and windows RDP w/ smart card authentication w/o errors.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program on my pc, the service and drivers on the remote PC w/ Dameware software. I've tried manually adding and removing the conents %windir%\dwrcs folder on the remote system w/o issue.
Damware sees my smart card as a JavaCard #2 if that helps.
Event ID 110 No Link-Local or Site-Local Cloud Available (Local)
Hello NG,
I come from this site http://forums.dameware.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3065 , which resulted in opening a support case.
Our systems experience lots of the following error entries in Windows event viewer, application log:
##################################################################
Error:
DameWare Mini Remote Control
No Link-Local or Site-Local Cloud Available (Local).
System Error: 0
System Message: Der Vorgang wurde erfolgreich beendet.
(srv 64 bit)
##################################################################
We want to get rid of the messages. Can you help?
Our Dameware version is 7.5.9.0, we run Windows 7 64bit Ultimate SP1 fully patched. Our systems have IPv6 disabled in properties of the NIC configurations.
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards,
Bob
How can i update the activation key in an existing version of MRC v10 Console ?
In our company we have an annual 50 user license for Dameware MRC v10. Our existing license expired and we have purchased a renewal.
Unfortunately we can't find a way through the GUI or command-line to add the new license/activation code into an existing installation.
I have looked though the user guide, forums etc. but there's no info about how to do this. Does anyone know a way to do this please ?.
At present our workaround is to uninstall and then reinstall this product using the new licence code as part of the MSI install commandline.
Thanks Makes
Using DameWare With non-admin account
Our company has an employee IT, who is necessary to connect to the computers of other users and help them. In this case the employee does not have the rights of a domain and local administrator on the users' computers. If the officer is trying to connect to the user - the user pops up a request for acceptance of connection.
Despite the fact that the user agrees to the connection, you can only view the remote computer, without the ability to manage the session.
Tell me, is it possible to manage users' computers without domain rights and local administrator?
UPDATED
After reading the article How to: Allow automatic Remote Control for non-admin users I realized that it is sufficient to remove the label from one of the items on the agent.
The question is how it's best to remove these marks made on all computers in the network?

MRC client agent not connecting. But, both sides are the same version
I get the message - The version of Dameware Mini Remote Control application you are using is not supported by the MRC client agent......
Both sides are activated and have the same version installed -- 6.9.0.4.
What is the problem?
MRC Password Update
SO we have been using Dameware Mini Remote Control for a couple months now on our fleet of about 400 PCs. My password has since then expired. Now I have to go back through and change my password on ALL of these computers one at a time in MRC. Is there not a way to mass update them???
And every computer I add I have to re-enter the userid, password, domain, and secret key. Is there not a way to use one on all machines since I use the same stuff on every single machine?

There are currently no logon servers available.. (local admin logged in) cannot remote control access?
Hello All,
I am using Dameware v9.0. The computer is a Win7 Professional. It was originally joined to a domain, but before I left the remote office I had logged in with a local Admin account instead. I am trying to use Dameware now to remote in, but I am unable to do so via Network credentials or even local admin credentials. I keep getting the following error when I try to login "There are currently no logon servers available..".
Strange part is, when I use "Encrypted Windows Logon" I entered the following userid "computername\username" and the password. When I click connect, it prompts to install the service, but when I click OK, it keeps asking me for password again, and then has this error message "There are currently no logon servers available..".
NON-ADMIN USE OF MRC V11
I would like to request help/walk-through/guide to having non-admins use DameWare Mini Remote Control v11 without having someone on the remote end that needs to accept the incoming connection request. The non-admin users may granted Remote Desktop User rights but may not have local admin rights permanently. We have many Processor Engineers, amongst other areas and users, that require a way to remote into systems but cannot use RDP. Due to audit reasons we cannot add them as administrators.
FYI - I entered this as a feature request, but I am starting to think this should not be a request as it should all ready be part of the software functions.
I have already add the user/s to the Remote Desktop Users group on the remote PC's I am using to test.
The case I sited in the Discussion Title is closed but was opened end of August in 2013. At that time we had been using version 8 and we went a different route but it has come up again and I need to find a solution. Below you will find what I was asked to try by Solarwinds to get this working.
Try this settings for Non- Admin. But this requires permission of the remote machine.
- On the DMRC Remote Connect window Click on the Settings
- Under Properties, look for Install Options Tab
- Click on Configure button
- There you will see the Additional Settings Tab
- It will need to tick on Permission required then Ok
I made these changes well logged in as a administrator. I then went to my non-admin account for testing and I receive the following error:
"The remote machine reported the following error:
The remote system is currently at the Logon Desktop.
Your credentials do not allow for access at the current desktop state."
Next I gave my non-admin account admin rights to check if the settings actual transfer between accounts; they do not. I changed them and tried again (after removing the local admin rights) but still received the error message. So next I changed the following settings under my non-admin account with local admin rights.
Under Additional Settings tab:
- checked Permission Required
- unchecked On Disconnect Logoff
Under Access tab
- unchecked All three boxes at the bottom
I logged off, removed the local admin rights, tried again; but still receive that same error message. If I am logged in to the remote PC as the user I do not receive the error message. Someone on the remote end still needs to accept the incoming connection request though.
So basically what I have going on is it only works if the user is logged in and the PC is not in a locked state. But not just that; someone on the remote end also has to accept the incoming connection request. I need to be able to have a non-admin account remote into the PC without requiring someone on the remote end. That user may be granted Remote Desktop User rights but may not be granted local admin rights.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Dameware MRC 12.0.4 "connect on reply" no longer works
I have been using MRC for years, long before solarwinds bought the program. whenever I reboot a system I always hit the "ping" icon and click the box "connect on reply" and for the longest time I would connect to a machine as soon as the pings started. I don't know when, but it has been awhile, but that no longer works. I can see MRC stating that is sending pings but I never see replies and MRC never reconnects. I can however in a separate command prompt window ping the same system and get replies.
any ideas why MRC pings no longer work?
