MS Surface Pro MRC display sizing & mouse usage nightmare

$
0
0

When trying to remote desktop to a Microsoft Surface Pro (latest version) on Win 10 (64bit) the display and mouse are out of whack.  Using mouse on remote PC the screen resolution is so large it won't let me see the bottom of the remote users desktop.  Then the mouse pointer won't line up with icons on desktop.  Fiddled with all the display settings as best I can but it won't work.

If anyone has any solutions I'd appreciate hearing about it (have had a brief search of forums - but time won't permit any more).

Thanks

I tried to connect with MRC 9 and got the below error. I tried again on 11 and got the same thing. Another PC with MRC is having the same issue. Other remote PCs are fine. I removed the remote service and the issue persists. Any ideas?

Please try one of the other authentication types or please check the remote machine's authentication settings.

Disconnecting.

Hi. Is there a log the computer keeps to track Dameware connections or sessions? I am new to Dameware and would like to know if this is a feature because not all staff members remember to lock the remote pc- I'm more concerned about server,) before disconnecting via Dameware.

Dameware MRC hangs white screen - Akamaiedge.net

Hi,

We are using Dameware MRC 9.0.1. It hangs when trying to load the program for 10 - 15 seconds. I've ran a process monitor and it's hanging on an connection to 2.22.139.27.

I've also ran a network monitor trace and MRC is trying to open a connection to akamaiedge.net on port 80.

We sit behind a proxy and firewall, so the direct connection can't be made.

Anyway of disabling this?

Many thanks

Rich

Dameware Mini Remote Control- no remote mouse/keyboard control

I am running DameWare Mini Remote Control V12.0.0.509 32-bit on Windows 7 Enterprise V6.1 Build 7601 w/ SP1.

I am able to connect to a remote PC and see their desktop, along with mouse and keystroke changes; however, I am no longer able to remotely control the mouse or keyboard like I once was.

We recently upgraded to the software version shown above in order to attempt to resolve the problem. I was able to remotely control the mouse and keyboard when connected to a test PC; however, when I remoted into the PC of an internal customer who needed troubleshooting assistance, I had no mouse or keyboard control.

Suggestions?

Dameware 10 Mini Remote Control Tool - Admin Cert on CAC

Hello,

I am setting up Dameware 10 Remote Control Tool on a few systems and am having an issue getting connected to remote systems using my CAC.  We have both admin and regular certs on the CAC but will be using the admin cert to do the remote control assistance.

Ill give you a rundown of what I am doing:

Right click DameWare Mini Remote Control > Run as (choose my admin Cert from CAC)

Fill in all information needed (Select Smart Card logon and fill in PIN)

Click connect and get error, after a few moments of waiting

Error:

DameWare Mini Remote Control

Smart Card Logon Failed (5.2).

System Error: 1326

System Message: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

After inspecting the security logs on the client system I see that the error is because its attempting to use my regular user account, not my admin account. Even tho we are running the MRC tool using admin cert credentials.

Security Logs on client system shows the attempted connection and failure:

An account failed to log on.

This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.

The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.

The Logon Type field indicates the kind of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).

The Process Information fields indicate which account and process on the system requested the logon.

The Network Information fields indicate where a remote logon request originated. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in some cases.

The authentication information fields provide detailed information about this specific logon request.

  - Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.

  - Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.

  - Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.

I am a local admin on remote system and can confirm this with username and password, so we know the authentication is there.  For some reason it keeps defaulting back to the regular user cert.

Any thoughts on it?

Dameware Mini Remote version 6.9.0.0 now Requesting permission to log onto remote computer.

We recently moved Domains.. And in doing so I had to change my profile.  So I decided reinstall my Dameware Mini Remote. Out
of 60 Users 3 are now Requesting permission to log onto their computer
?  I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling the Dameware Client on those computers to no avail?  Could someone help me?  I'm the IT Systems Administrator and one of my duties, if requested by Management, is to shadow users without their knowledge and with it requesting access that defeats the purpose.

Thank you

Using DameWare With non-admin account

Our company has an employee IT, who is necessary to connect to the computers of other users and help them. In this case the employee does not have the rights of a domain and local administrator on the users' computers. If the officer is trying to connect to the user - the user pops up a request for acceptance of connection.

Despite the fact that the user agrees to the connection, you can only view the remote computer, without the ability to manage the session.

Tell me, is it possible to manage users' computers without domain rights and local administrator?

UPDATED

After reading the article How to: Allow automatic Remote Control for non-admin users I realized that it is sufficient to remove the label from one of the items on the agent.

The question is how it's best to remove these marks made on all computers in the network?

Dameware Update nuisance

With the latest and greatest Dameware update I have been getting this window pop up no matter what I do or select.  Where is the setting to turn that "feature" off?

DameWare GPO Options

Running DameWare Version 11.2.0.91 (64 Bit)

Hello there everyone, had a question about DameWare and GPO options. When Reg changes are made through group policy shouldn't the DameWare Mini Remote Control take the changes in effect? I made changes to the following Reg Files:  Force Encrypt Data, Force Encrypt Images, and SFT: Enable Simple File Transfer and moved my VM to test out the results. The Reg files took the changes but the application did not.

When you launch the DameWare Mini Remote Control > Remote Connect Window > Click Settings > Click Encryption Options Tab and under Remote Control box options still unchecked (Encrypt General Data and Images)?

Under Simple File Transfer: Enable Encryption Still Unchecked?

With the changes made to the reg files, shouldn't these options be checked with Reg Value of 1?

If I am doing something wrong, please let me know thank you in advance.

I have installed Dameware Centralized Server RC12. It works great! But it created a certifikat that is a problem. I installed DCS RC12 on our main server, which is a  Windows Small Business server 2011 Standard.

Now every time one in the company opens there Outlook, a certifikat warning pops up. It says that the company that made this certifikat is not trusted, but the date is valid.

I know that under the installing of DCS, i was promptet about it creating a certifikat, but did not think it could be a problem.

Dameware Mini remote Control - Removing Autostart

OK .. I think I am missing something simple in XP but I have been unable to find the auto start for Mimi Remote Control. We installed the new version 12 on my laptop and apparently selected the startup folder as part of the install. It is working as expected in that Mini Remote Control starts every time the laptop boots but I now have somany other things starting that it takes like 5 minutes to boot. I looked in both my startup folder and the all users startup folder but I did not see anything there. I also dod not see anything in the program settings to enable / disable this. Am I just looking in the wrong place or just not seeing it.

Mini Remote causing desktop settings to change for user

$
0
0

We have recently started using Dameware and Mini Remote.  When I use  Mini Remote to connect to a users pc I'm finding that it changes their desktop display settings. These changes are tied to mini remote because they were reported within a minute of me connecting to their pc for the first time.  And, it was reported by users in the order in which I connected to their pc's.   One right after the other.   I'm aware of two specific changes:   the color scheme changes (minor in the big picture but it's the little things that keep them happy), the task bar for example was a deep blue now it's a muted gray color.    The biggest complaint is that the windows preview when you mouse over an application icon in the task bar changes from window previews to a list.   Previously, if you had multiple word documents open and had it set to not combined icons it would show one Word icon in the task bar.  If you would mouse over the Word icon it would pop up little windows for each document you had open and as you mouse over each window preview it would temporarily display that document maximized on the screen.  Now, it only pops up a list, that's in, no interactive preview or anything.

With my previous employer I used mini remote extensively and did not see this happen.  Please help, my name is mud with several users because of this.

Your insight and expertise is appreciated.
