Saved Host List (mrccv2) is blank

$

Our team uses Dameware (v12) to connect to several different computers.  Occasionally, a PC will be added or removed from the list.  When this happens, one of us usually updates our saved host list, saves the file, and copies the MRCCv2.db file to a shared location, where everyone else on the team downloads it to their PC, puts it in the appropriate directory, and it works.

However, with the most recent update, 2 members of my team have said that their "Saved Host" list is blank, despite copying down the new MRCCv2 file and making sure it's in the proper place.  Other people have downloaded the file and it's working without issue.  We've compared settings between someone who has the issue, and someone who doesn't, and everything looks the same.  Has anyone encountered this before, and how did you solve for it?

How to attach dameware mrc 9 window to toolbar so I can move it on my screen?

Sometime when connecting to high resolution clients, my dameware mrc does not let me move the window on my screen.  I am connected to two clients right now for example.  One is at 1024x768.  The dameware "window" has a menu bar (File, Send, Monitor...) and buttons, and the display of this remote machine is integrated within this window.  I can minimize, maximize, close or drag this window around no problem.

The other machine I am connected to is 1920x1080.  The view of this remote machine is separated from the dameware toolbar in the top middle of my screen.  The window border around the view of the remote machine is so thin that there is nothing to grab ahold of to move this window around my screens.  I can only really awkwardly resize it to move it to another monitor or another place on my screen.  How could I get the view of this remote machine attached with the menu bar and tool bar, like the other machine?  There's no way to disconnect either.  Well one would have to close it from the taskbar.  If you click the little X in the top anchored, centered toolbar that is detached from the remote PC view, that toolbar goes away permanently . unless you close dameware and reopen it.

I'm getting this error when trying to dial into one specific site. All the computers at this site give me the same error. I can succesfully log into all of our other sites using Dameware with Windows NT challenge response. I have confirmed that there are other users who are having this problem as well, however strangely some users can still access this site with Dameware and Windows NT challenge response no problem. I found a post on your old forums recommending adding a few lines of code into the INI file, but that must have been for an older version of Dameware that still used one, I think it all goes into the registry now. Has anyone had this issue before? If you need any more info please let me know.

Any help is appreciated!

Good Afternoon,

I recently tried installing the Dameware Mini Remote driver onto a Windows Server 2012 machine and it continues to report back "The Operating System has reported that a reboot of the remote machine is required to complete the Mirror Driver installation/update".  Once you click ok, it lets you in.  But, everytime you remote in with Dameware, it pops up this message.  The system has been rebooted multiple times and tried installing the driver multiple ways with no success.  How do I get around this?  Thanks

Hello NG,

I come from this site http://forums.dameware.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3065 , which resulted in opening a support case.

Our systems experience lots of the following error entries in Windows event viewer, application log:

##################################################################
Error:
DameWare Mini Remote Control
No Link-Local or Site-Local Cloud Available (Local).

System Error: 0
System Message: Der Vorgang wurde erfolgreich beendet.

(srv 64 bit)
##################################################################

We want to get rid of the messages. Can you help?

Our Dameware version is 7.5.9.0, we run Windows 7 64bit Ultimate SP1 fully patched. Our systems have IPv6 disabled in properties of the NIC configurations.

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards,

Bob

How can i update the activation key in an existing version of MRC v10 Console ?

In our company we have an annual 50 user license for Dameware MRC v10. Our existing license expired and we have purchased a renewal.

Unfortunately we can't find a way through the GUI or command-line to add the new license/activation code into an existing installation.

I have looked though the user guide, forums etc. but there's no info about how to do this. Does anyone know a way to do this please ?.

At present our workaround is to uninstall and then reinstall this product using the new licence code as part of the MSI install commandline.

Thanks Makes

I’m thrilled to announce that Dameware 12.0 is now publicly available. In this release we focused all our efforts to finalise the remote support story with unattended over the internet sessions. Dameware now allows to assist remotely without presence of the end-user, who is not in the intranet but travelling. Technicians can now support end-user in company network as well as in Internet anytime.

This release brings several bigger and smaller improvements, so let me highlight a few of them:

  • Over the Internet (OTI) unattended sessions for Dameware Centralized users
    • Allows you to remotely support users on the move, and assist remotely without the presence of the end user
    • Deploy agents with OTI unattended support to end-points
    • Manage agents for OTI unattended sessions to maintain high security and control
  • Search Hosts in Mini Remote Control
  • Support for Windows 10
  • Ability to switch between the Standalone and Centralized versions without reinstallation
  • And many other improvements and bug fixes

Dameware 12.0 is available for download on your customer portal for those customers under current maintenance.

If you are not a Dameware user yet, now go and download new version from www.dameware.com now!

Hallo zusammen,

Ich habe ein Problem beim Command Line Connect auf eine Maschine im Unternehmen.

Zunächst: Über GUI Funktioniert alles.

Folgende Angaben sind eingestellt:

Host: IP-Adresse

Authentication Type: Windows NT/Response

User ID: support

Passwort: Ein Passwort ohne Leerzeichen

Domain: Ebenfalls eine IP-Adresse

Use MRC's Mirror Driver if available ist angehakt

und der Radio-Button ist auf Use MRC Viewer gestellt

Weitere Settings sind in der GUI nicht eingestellt und so komme ich immer auf die Maschine drauf.

Wenn ich den Command Line Befehl folgendermaßen aufbaue:

DWRCC.exe -c: -h: -x: -m:192.168.202.135 -d:192.168.202.138 -u:support -p:Passwort -a:1 -md:

sollte ich die gleichen Settings eigentlich drin haben, er versucht auch sich zu Verbinden, bei der Authentifizierung bekomme ich dann nur die folgende Fehlermeldung:

DameWare Mini Remote Control - Connect

Authentication failed:

Remote Message System Error: -2146893048

System Message:

Das Token, dass der Funktion übergeben wurde, ist ungültig.

Please check event log on the remote machine for possible cause.

Win 8.1 and Dameware v9 Installation problems

$

All,

I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and tried to install DW9. The installation goes all the way through until it seems to start modifying registry keys. It throws an error that "There is a problem with the Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run."

I've installed every vc++ redistributable known 2005,2008,2010,2012, and I've installed .net 2, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 - 3 - 4.5 is installed via Programs and Features. I've also installed various versions of DirectX just to see if it had something to do with that and no-go. I've got full admin rights on this box, and another person that I work with is having the same problem. The users that upgraded from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 are not having an issue, so it looks like Windows 8.0 may have something that 8.1 doesn't have? What in the world is it??

I believe we have 32-bit, but I'm not sure if there's a separate 64-bit version. The 32-bit has installed on every 64-bit OS in the office except this one.

Any ideas for me to look at? Error logs don't show me anything. It doesn't even show the application that it's 'required' to run and cannot find/launch:

Hi there,

is it possible to always activate the notify dialog, that the user and the "supporter" can not close the dialog?

The best way, for me, is when the notify dialog is always on and nobody can close it.

Introduction & general question

Hi community,

as my name stated, I am Ruud Westerhout, Head of IT at an IT department of a bigger automotive industry.

I downloaded the DameWare Trial as I see our support-desk (Outsourcer) is using it for their level of support.

We do the local support in our country and would like to understand if the product fits our needs.

A quick try to set the software up in our corporate environment was without hassle. The software is installed locally, and with using the admin-credentials I have, I can install the client at any of our clients and have a look at, and steer their screen content.

I am wondering if I can use the software to do the same on other systems and was not so successfull at first try.

Maybe somebody can give me a hint as to if this is possible at all and where my next steps are to be done.

How did I set up:

Corporate network is using ONLY W-XP pro 32bit systems, hence the DW-MRC is installed at such a client, I am using it from there.

The software proposes to use port 6127, not the 6129 which is in the documentation.

A private network is set up at a fix IP location outside the corporate network.

A PC with W-7 Ultimate 64bit within that network has a fixed local IP (192.168.0.xx). A LinkSys router is routing the port 6127 to that fixed IP within the network
I posess full admin rights on the local PC and insert these while logging in (or trying to).

1st, I was unable to "send" the client software as a service, correct ?

2nd, I created a .msi to be installed and choose W-XP 64bit and higher for the .msi file

I took the file for installation of the client locally on that PC and got error messages hinting that installation did not work successfully and that service cannot be guaranteed.

The service itself seem unavailable (not active, not manual, nor disabled) in the W-7 system.

My wish for the system would be to use it in two ways :

-support of corporate clients, which seems to work without problems

-support of internet connected clients privately, which does not work for the moment

Can You guys tell me if the second is possible at all and if yes, how do You go about installing the client on such PC's, as obviously my way was incorrect.

best regards,

Ruud

MRC callable via UNC?

Hello,

I work in the ITS department of the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District in Bakersfield, CA. We recently switched from RealVNC to Dameware Mini Remote Control and so far we love it. We are, however, missing one key feature that I'm hoping we are just overlooking.

We were previously able to call the VNC VIEWER via UNC path on our central server with permission to all machines on the network (7,000+ machines) and connect to any computer with RealVNC installed from any one of our school sites. Is there a way to set this kind of functionality up for our Computer Technicians to access when they are out in the field on their various campuses?

For instance we would like to be able to call '\\server\dameware.exe' (server of course has a valid installed dameware license) from any of our 23 school sites for when we can't be in two places at once. Currently when we try this we get a 'license expired' message.

Dameware centralized server set up and available to be accessed - 2 questions

$

1) How do I apply my own certificate to the server rather than use the unsecured cert?
2) How do I load a clients AD environment into the centralized server for remote access. Do I just need one MRC client service on a workstation or server in the client's environment with admin credentials? Or do I need to load a specific server product there and hook it in through the proxy?

Cheers,

Dameware MRC hangs white screen - Akamaiedge.net

Hi,

We are using Dameware MRC 9.0.1. It hangs when trying to load the program for 10 - 15 seconds. I've ran a process monitor and it's hanging on an connection to 2.22.139.27.

I've also ran a network monitor trace and MRC is trying to open a connection to akamaiedge.net on port 80.

We sit behind a proxy and firewall, so the direct connection can't be made.

Anyway of disabling this?

Many thanks

Rich
