Win 8.1 and Dameware v9 Installation problems

$

All,

I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and tried to install DW9. The installation goes all the way through until it seems to start modifying registry keys. It throws an error that "There is a problem with the Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run."

I've installed every vc++ redistributable known 2005,2008,2010,2012, and I've installed .net 2, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 - 3 - 4.5 is installed via Programs and Features. I've also installed various versions of DirectX just to see if it had something to do with that and no-go. I've got full admin rights on this box, and another person that I work with is having the same problem. The users that upgraded from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 are not having an issue, so it looks like Windows 8.0 may have something that 8.1 doesn't have? What in the world is it??

I believe we have 32-bit, but I'm not sure if there's a separate 64-bit version. The 32-bit has installed on every 64-bit OS in the office except this one.

Any ideas for me to look at? Error logs don't show me anything. It doesn't even show the application that it's 'required' to run and cannot find/launch:

CTRL-ALT-DELETE doesn't work when I'm attached to a client's machine

When I'm using Dameware V10 to remote into a client's machine, it always starts with the following message "Configuring the remote system for first time use. This may take as much as two minutes. Please wait..."  It allows me to get to the client's machine but then the CTRL-ALT-DELETE function doesn't work and I can't log in. I've also tried to use the Send "CTRL+ALT+DELETE" option.  I've installed and re-installed the Dameware Software at least 3 times but it still has the same issue. What would be causing this problem? Thanks.

DameWare Centralized Server Global Host List

We don't keep information in AD like user names in description fields for computer objects, therefore unfortunately something like an AD Import for the global hosts list will not work for me. However, I am able to automate the creation of a list in CSV or XML of hosts, IP Addresses, and Aliases (which will be user names). Does DameWare Centralized Server have any local file or registry key that maintains the global hosts list that I can simply replace in order to update the global hosts list?

Can DameWare MRC toolbar be hidden to / revealed from a screen area?

$

I know the "floating" DameWare MRC control toolbar which exists once you're connected to a remote host can be moved around or dismissed with the X, however I do not always remember how to get it back.

Is there a setting such that it can auto-hide to an edge or corner of the controlling machine's screen until the mouse goes to that edge or corner, similar to the way the Windoze taskbar or OSX dock can hide until the mouse goes to the edge of the taskbar's or dock's edge of the screen where the taskbar/dock  then reveals itself?

If it doesn't exist, make it exist!

Dameware-Icon (Mini Remote Control) in Systray bleibt gelb-grün während ein Supporter aufgeschaltet ist / Systray-Icon stays yellow-green

Hallo,

Betriebssystem User: Win7 SP1 / DWMRC Version 7.5.0.0 (64bit)
Betriebssystem Supporter: Win7 SP1  / DMMRC Appl. 7.5.0.1 (32bit)

Problem tritt nur sporadisch auf.

Hello,
we use Dameware Mini Control Server 7.5.0.0 on our Windows7-Clients with SP1.
We pre-install the Dameware Mini Remote Service on every client with our
software deployment software DSM (Frontrange).
Here my problem:
In many cases the dameware icon in the taskbar stays yellow-green on the client
when I connect with Dameware Mini Remote Control Application 7.5.0.1, 32 and
doesn’t change to red.
The user now doesn’t know if I’m still connected.
When I manually “remove service” and “install service” in the file menu before
I start a connection, then the icon will change for the next remote session to
red on the remote client, but a day later, it’s yellow-green again during a
remote session on the same client.
Do you have an idea what goes wrong or how I can activate that the icon in the
taskbar is permanently red when a supporter is connected.

Jeder Hinweis ist willkommen ....

Danke.

Dameware Mini Remote Control - Citrix Window Issues

Hi guys, I'm trialling Dameware Mini Remote Control at the moment and am having a very annoying problem and looking for some advice or a solution.

I am looking to support remote computers within the network with this tool.

Currently, our machines are running Windows 7 Pro SP1.

We are also using Citrix Receiver to load up 2x external hosted applications. These applications function as normal separate windows.

But..when i connect to a computer, the 2 citrix applications combine together within a Window and apply a 'default looking' Windows background and the only way to get out of this is to close the full sized window which will disconnect the session and then open the apps up again.

I'm sure this is a setting i am not able to find somewhere.

Thanks for your time

Dameware centralized server set up and available to be accessed - 2 questions

$

1) How do I apply my own certificate to the server rather than use the unsecured cert?
2) How do I load a clients AD environment into the centralized server for remote access. Do I just need one MRC client service on a workstation or server in the client's environment with admin credentials? Or do I need to load a specific server product there and hook it in through the proxy?

Cheers,

Lee

I tried to connect with MRC 9 and got the below error. I tried again on 11 and got the same thing. Another PC with MRC is having the same issue. Other remote PCs are fine. I removed the remote service and the issue persists. Any ideas?

Please try one of the other authentication types or please check the remote machine's authentication settings.

Disconnecting.

Need help securing remote access to desktops - v10 of DameWare MRC

$

We have a requirement that was given to us that requires a person to be present and logged in to allow us to access the desktop.

There is a "Permission Required" option that will require someone at the desktop to accept the invitation (which meets part of the requirement), however, no option to not allow remote access if the screen is locked or if no one is logged in (including Administrator users).

Any help is appreciated.

Dameware Centralized Server - Useless?

$

Hi all,

i am sorry but i have to say i really expected more from Dameware Centralized Server. I installed the Centralized Server today (no proxy, no gateway), but this tool is just useless in my opinion.

Installation was easy yes, but after an hour i have to say: It is only usefull for centralized license management, thats all! If you have just a few licenses, dont waste your time and manage them manually.

Things i am really missing (and i think i am not alone requesting such features)

- only AD User Import, no real AD integration. Hence you have to manage your users manually.

- no Rights Managment - only admin or no admin

- no centralized config management

- no autologin with DRMC or DRMS

Global host list:

- No rights management (user only should have access to a few hosts / folders)

- no centralized and advanced settings for hosts entries (only connect with RDP to a specific host) settings will be ignored if you connect via DRMC

- its just a list of your favourites, not more not less.

Is there a wishlist for product improvement? When is the next update planned?

Thanks

Peter

Running DWMRC 11.1 and getting error 1618 when trying to browse Microsoft windows network list.

States the list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.

I have always been able to view this list in prior versions. Not sure if this worked at all in 11 as I don't always view this list.

Any suggestions?

I know this is possible, but I can't remember how to do it.  Each time I add a new host, I have to add my credentials.  How do I get my credentials to be added automatically?

Thanks in advance!!

Good Afternoon,

I recently tried installing the Dameware Mini Remote driver onto a Windows Server 2012 machine and it continues to report back "The Operating System has reported that a reboot of the remote machine is required to complete the Mirror Driver installation/update".  Once you click ok, it lets you in.  But, everytime you remote in with Dameware, it pops up this message.  The system has been rebooted multiple times and tried installing the driver multiple ways with no success.  How do I get around this?  Thanks

Hello NG,

I come from this site http://forums.dameware.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3065 , which resulted in opening a support case.

Our systems experience lots of the following error entries in Windows event viewer, application log:

##################################################################
Error:
DameWare Mini Remote Control
No Link-Local or Site-Local Cloud Available (Local).

System Error: 0
System Message: Der Vorgang wurde erfolgreich beendet.

(srv 64 bit)
##################################################################

We want to get rid of the messages. Can you help?

Our Dameware version is 7.5.9.0, we run Windows 7 64bit Ultimate SP1 fully patched. Our systems have IPv6 disabled in properties of the NIC configurations.

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards,

Bob

Activation Issue/Downgrade

I Have a valid license of  DMRC version 9 the support downgrade the key to the version 8

in order to be compatible within the organization that i am using it.

The problem is with the activation of the product V 8.0.1.151 (32bit).

The "SolarWinds License Manager" is not working because the maintenance of the licence has end.

The License is valid and working.

I am using the "Enter License Information..." tool to activate the program.

I am using the manual activation using the "Unique machine ID"

The wizard ends with the last screen showing that the product is activated but when

I hit the Finish then the program show me that it is in evaluation mode of 14 days.

The support of SolarWinds directed me to the forums and did't manage to provide any solutions.

I have installed the application many times and i am using the "License Reset Tool" to clear the old installations.

Any suggestion/Help will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
