I tried to connect with MRC 9 and got the below error. I tried again on 11 and got the same thing. Another PC with MRC is having the same issue. Other remote PCs are fine. I removed the remote service and the issue persists. Any ideas?

Please try one of the other authentication types or please check the remote machine's authentication settings.

Disconnecting.

Dameware 10 Mini Remote Control Tool - Admin Cert on CAC

Hello,

I am setting up Dameware 10 Remote Control Tool on a few systems and am having an issue getting connected to remote systems using my CAC.  We have both admin and regular certs on the CAC but will be using the admin cert to do the remote control assistance.

Ill give you a rundown of what I am doing:

Right click DameWare Mini Remote Control > Run as (choose my admin Cert from CAC)

Fill in all information needed (Select Smart Card logon and fill in PIN)

Click connect and get error, after a few moments of waiting

Error:

DameWare Mini Remote Control

Smart Card Logon Failed (5.2).

System Error: 1326

System Message: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

After inspecting the security logs on the client system I see that the error is because its attempting to use my regular user account, not my admin account. Even tho we are running the MRC tool using admin cert credentials.

Security Logs on client system shows the attempted connection and failure:

An account failed to log on.

Subject:

  Security ID: SYSTEM

  Account Name: %COMPUTERNAME%$

  Account Domain: %DOMAIN%

  Logon ID: 0x3e7

Logon Type: 3

  Security ID: NULL SID

  Account Name: %REMOVEDINFO%

  Account Domain:

Failure Information:

Failure Reason: Unknown user name or bad password.

  Sub Status: 0xc0000064

Process Information:

  Caller Process Name: C:\Windows\dwrcs\DWRCS.exe

Network Information:

Detailed Authentication Information:

  Logon Process: DWMRC3

  Authentication Package: Kerberos

  Transited Services: -

  Package Name (NTLM only): -

  Key Length: 0

This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.

The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.

The Logon Type field indicates the kind of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).

The Process Information fields indicate which account and process on the system requested the logon.

The Network Information fields indicate where a remote logon request originated. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in some cases.

The authentication information fields provide detailed information about this specific logon request.

  - Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.

  - Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.

  - Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.

I am a local admin on remote system and can confirm this with username and password, so we know the authentication is there.  For some reason it keeps defaulting back to the regular user cert.

Any thoughts on it?

Dameware across multiple domains

I am trying to figure out what the authentication requirements are to use dameware across multiple domains.

I am in Domain1.com and I need to be able to support Domain2.com, but I have to create an account in Domain2.com to be able to support these users.

I want to be able to use my Domain1.com account to manage all users in Domain2.com. I have made my account part of Domain2.com 's built in administrators group but still no luck.

Help please!

Mini Remote Control - Show Remote Cursor (Not working)

Hello!

I have an issue with the Remote option 'Show Remote Cursor' not working on many clients even though I have activated the setting under Default Host. It doesn't work even though I connect to new target PC's after the change of setting or modifying an existing client-setting.

I have changed the setting on the Host-PC to enable 'Show Remote Cursor' under Default Host. The Target PC's (Which I connect to) has Dameware Mini Remote Control Service installed.

Get Smart Card Authentication failed in MiniRemote

I have Dameware 7.5.6.1 32 bit running on 64bit Windows 7 and the remote clients are all 64bit Windows 7 machines.

It seems when I login to some of our remote computers I get an Smart Card Authentication failed error:

"System error: -2146435069, Remote Message: System Error: -2146435069. System message: the supplied handle was invalid."

The corresponding Windows Application logs show: "System error 10014, event id 110."

It seems to happen when I try to use the miniremote to remote into some computers, not all remote clients. It seems to happen after a sudden disconnect or reboot of the remote machine. It doesn't matter where I do it, so it not computer/profile specific. And I can get co-workers to login to the same remote system w/o issue, so it seems to be my issue.

I can use dameware NT utilities to access all the tools for the respective computer but a soon as I try to use MiniRemote and try to login I get the error. I can use other remote desktop apps and windows RDP w/ smart card authentication w/o errors.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program on my pc, the service and drivers on the remote PC w/ Dameware software. I've tried manually adding and removing the conents %windir%\dwrcs folder on the remote system w/o issue.

Damware sees my smart card as a JavaCard #2 if that helps.

I'm getting this error when trying to dial into one specific site. All the computers at this site give me the same error. I can succesfully log into all of our other sites using Dameware with Windows NT challenge response. I have confirmed that there are other users who are having this problem as well, however strangely some users can still access this site with Dameware and Windows NT challenge response no problem. I found a post on your old forums recommending adding a few lines of code into the INI file, but that must have been for an older version of Dameware that still used one, I think it all goes into the registry now. Has anyone had this issue before? If you need any more info please let me know.

Any help is appreciated!

  • Upgrading MRC agents on remote machine failed.
  • MRC was not able to connect to remote machine using "MRC Ping" feature.

Dameware MRC V 9.0 64 Bit And Windows Server 2012

Good Afternoon,

I recently tried installing the Dameware Mini Remote driver onto a Windows Server 2012 machine and it continues to report back "The Operating System has reported that a reboot of the remote machine is required to complete the Mirror Driver installation/update".  Once you click ok, it lets you in.  But, everytime you remote in with Dameware, it pops up this message.  The system has been rebooted multiple times and tried installing the driver multiple ways with no success.  How do I get around this?  Thanks

Yes, I just started using Dameware MRC. I created a custom MSI file to deploy. I can run the file on a workstation and it works fine.. Now I need some assistance on running that file on a remote workstation using PSexec and running it in silent mode without any assistance from the end user.

Whyd does Dameware log off my client when I exit remote control

This never used to happen. Now it is happening and I cannot find any settings so I think it has to be due to something else. Let me know if there is some setting that I could change to not make it log off the remote user when I exit remote control. I already tried it without removing the service. Thanks

Dameware Mini Remote Control "Encrypted Windows Logon"

I'm trying to find out if the "Encrypted Windows Logon" is using Kerberos as the underlying protocol. I'm assuming the "NT Challenge/Response" is using NTLM but it would be great to know if that is the case for sure.

Second part of the question would be if there is a way to turn on Pass-Through authentication for "Encrypted Windows Logon". It grays out the check box for "Use Current Logon Credentials" when I choose it.

Dameware service not installing

Hello

We have a problem  on a W2K8 R2 STD server. The  Dameware Mini Remote  Control service is not installing automatically. All files are copied to the local folder but it  seems that registry entries are missing in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development

In the logfile "..\All Users\DameWare Development\Logs" we see following error:

2015-12-29 15:05:54,870 main@1136 INFO  [DWRCS] ************************** DWRCS version is: 11.0.0.1003 **************************

2015-12-29 15:11:52,496 main@2944 ERROR [Service] LogErrorMsg dwErr=1063: StartServiceCtrlDispatcher failed.

The Dameware console (trying to install it) shows us an error, asking for a user and a password. After clicking cancel it gives the error "unable to install service. System Error: 5, System Messagae: Access is denied"

We have checked if the admin has all needed rights and it seems so. We have tried with a local administrator and a domain administrator. It isn't working either way. We could install it on another server with the local administrator (with identical rights), it seems that only this server has an issue.

Is this a known problem?! Is there a way to solve it? Or is there even a way to install the Dameware "host" manually? We found only an installation programm for the full version.

Thanks in advance for your help

Dameware MRC hangs white screen - Akamaiedge.net

Hi,

We are using Dameware MRC 9.0.1. It hangs when trying to load the program for 10 - 15 seconds. I've ran a process monitor and it's hanging on an connection to 2.22.139.27.

I've also ran a network monitor trace and MRC is trying to open a connection to akamaiedge.net on port 80.

We sit behind a proxy and firewall, so the direct connection can't be made.

Anyway of disabling this?

Many thanks

Rich
